Optus says it will soon be offering 4G services to its customers in Kingaroy but they may face some temporary disruptions as the towers are upgraded.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an exciting time as we\u2019re bringing 4G to Optus customers in Kingaroy for the first time,” Optus vice-president of mobile radio engineering, Andrew Smith said.<\/p>\n

“This provides customers with a faster mobile internet experience and will bring competition and choice in 4G services across Australia.\u201d<\/p>\n

To support 4G services in Kingaroy, Optus towers will be upgraded over the next few weeks, so they are 4G ready when the new spectrum becomes available.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cAs the mobile towers in Kingaroy are being upgraded, there will be temporary service interruptions while this essential work is being completed,” Mr Smith said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOptus aims to complete these works as quickly as possible in order to keep any service interruptions to a minimum. We know this may be frustrating, and we thank customers for their patience while the upgrades are being completed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Optus will bring 4G services progressively to the area via the new 2600MHz spectrum and 700MHz spectrum, which become available from October 2014 and January 2015 respectively.<\/p>\n

The latest 700 MHz compatible devices include Samsung Galaxy S5, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, LG G3 and HTC One (M8).<\/p>\n

The upgrade to the Kingaroy network is part of a large 4G expansion program by Optus in regional areas.<\/p>\n

The company says it \u00a0hopes to cover 90 per cent of the Australian population by April next year.<\/p>\n
