Kingaroy Police are warning residents that break-ins can occur at any time of the day and night.<\/p>\n

Victims lose laptops, mobile phones, cash and other easily portable items.<\/p>\n

“Offenders often target these small easily taken articles. Put these items away and out of sight,” a spokesman said.<\/p>\n

“Thieves are targeting homes that are empty during the day, and ‘sneak’ offences when the home owner is sleeping at home.<\/p>\n

“Residents should lock external doors even while at home.<\/p>\n

“Offenders often look for easy opportunities to gain entry to houses and then have access to steal property from inside while residents are watching television or occupied with something else in the house.<\/p>\n

“Leaving valuables in open view on kitchen benches, desks and tables is not advisable.<\/p>\n

“Keep your security screen doors locked, even when you are home, and keep the key away from the door, on a hook, not in the lock where offenders may break the screen, turn the key and gain access.<\/p>\n

“Dropping a piece of dowel into the door or window track may also prevent the door or window from sliding.”<\/p>\n
