Kumbia resident Helen Kilpatrick could never be accused of resting on her laurels … the TAFE Queensland South West Graphic Design graduate has just won a bronze medal at the recent national WorldSkills competition in Perth bit is now focused on completing her Diploma of Photoimaging.<\/p>\n

Helen won the “Printing and Graphic Arts” category\u2019s bronze medal in the three-day competition, which saw Australia\u2019s best young tradespeople compete in intensive trade assessments.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to design a box, a brochure, logo, posters and other marketing collateral as part of my category,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Obviously I had learnt those skills in my course, but I also did some work experience to ensure I felt fully prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n

TAFE Queensland South West Graphic Design teacher Lyle Jacobson said he was not at all surprised by Helen\u2019s performance due to the commitment she showed throughout her course.<\/p>\n

He said she was now officially acknowledged as one of the top three young graphic designers in Australia.<\/p>\n

\u201cHelen would travel from Kumbia to TAFE in Toowoomba every week for her design diploma, and now does the same for photoimaging,” he said.<\/p>\n
