Ergon Energy is opening its 2014 apprenticeship intake \u00a0(Photo: Ergon)\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nSeptember 19, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\nErgon Energy is taking applications now for its 2015 apprenticeship intake, and there’s one position available in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n
However applications must be submitted before September 28.<\/p>\n
Ergon chief executive Ian McLeod said 66 positions were being offered at 28 locations across Queensland, including a position for a systems electrician at the Kingaroy depot.<\/p>\n
He said the apprenticeships were a great opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn a valuable trade.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese apprenticeships are mostly offered to local people so they can develop their skills while remaining in the community with their family and friends,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe strong interest in our apprenticeships is testament to the strength of our program and also to the reputation of the company as a preferred place to train and work in regional Queensland.”<\/p>\n
Apprenticeships are available at Atherton, Banyo, Blackwater, Cairns, Charleville, Chinchilla, Clermont, Cooktown, Dalby, Emerald, Gladstone, Hervey Bay, Ingham, Innisfail, Kingaroy, Mackay, Mareeba, Maryborough, Monto, Mossman, Moura, Quilpie, Rockhampton, Roma, Toowoomba, Townsville, Tully and Warwick.<\/p>\n
They are available in a range of trades, including communications technician, distribution linesperson, transmission linesperson and electrotechnology electrician.<\/p>\n
Mr McLeod said Ergon Energy usually received more than 2000 applications for its annual apprenticeship intake.<\/p>\n
