South Burnett residents have been invited to enter an art competition to help mark Mental Health Week.<\/p>\n

The competition is being co-ordinated by the South Burnett Community Mental Health Service and is\u00a0free for anyone to enter.<\/p>\n

Entries will be judged on their relevance to the competition theme, as well as their impact, originality and inspirational quality.<\/p>\n

Service Integration Coordinator Megan Theobald said the theme of this year\u2019s competition had been chosen by the local Consumer and Carer Advisory Group.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe theme this year is \u2018Create Your Journey\u2019 and we have received several entries already,” she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe competition will be judged by local artist Megg Cullen and the winners will be announced\u00a0at the exhibition opening night at the Kingaroy Art Gallery on Friday, October 3.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPrizes for the winners have been donated by the local Lions Club.\u201d<\/p>\n

Entries must be submitted to South Burnett Community Health\u00a0by 2:00pm on Friday, September 26.<\/p>\n

They will remain on display at the Kingaroy Art Gallery until October 23.<\/p>\n

Mental Health Week is held across Australia in October each year to coincide with World Mental Health Day on October 10.<\/p>\n

This year, Mental Health Week runs from October 5-12.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe aim of the competition is to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing, and to provide\u00a0a creative outlet and a social event for the community centred on mental health, \u201c Ms Theobald\u00a0said.<\/p>\n
