September 11, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 25-year-old man who pleaded guilty to contravening a domestic violence order after he threw a woman to the ground and put his hands around her throat as if to choke her, was sentenced to six months jail in Kingaroy Magistrates Court today.<\/p>\n

The court was told that Joshua Wayne Bell was intoxicated when he went to the woman’s house on August 6, but she let him in.<\/p>\n

Police Prosecutor Sgt Pepe Gangemi said Bell had previous DVO breaches on his record.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Simon Young said the maximum penalty for the offence was three years jail.<\/p>\n

He ordered the 37 days that Bell had been held in custody be treated as time served and fixed a parole release date of October 3.<\/p>\n

A conviction was recorded.<\/p>\n

A Kingaroy man facing 16 charges – including a string of break-and-enter charges – was placed on 12 months probation and ordered to perform 140 hours community service when he appeared in court today.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jake Lee Wain pleaded guilty to possessing tainted property, nine break-and-enter charges, stealing, and fraud.<\/p>\n

Police offered no evidence on four more charges: \u00a0stealing, possessing explosives and two burglary counts.<\/p>\n

Two people charged with drug-driving after recent police operations in the South Burnett appeared in court today:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sean Owen Denning appeared via videolink from Woodford Correctional Centre as his parole had been revoked.<\/p>\n

He pleaded guilty to driving a car on Alford Street, Kingaroy, on June 1 with methamphetamine present in his blood.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Young disqualified Denning from driving for two months and fined him $400.<\/p>\n

Jesse Lynne Swain also pleaded guilty to driving with\u00a0methamphetamine present in her blood after she tested positive at a roadside drug test in Haly Street, Kingaroy, on March 8.<\/p>\n
