Visitors to the Wondai Regional Art Galley this month will get the chance to see some special 3D paintings.<\/p>\n

Artist Lindley Hart has a collection of what appear to be ordinary paintings in the Front Gallery, but nearly all of them turn into absorbing three-dimensional works as soon as visitors don a set of 3D glasses.<\/p>\n

Lindley, who has been a practising artist for over two decades, said he uses several special techniques to produce the 3D effect in his paintings.<\/p>\n

His works have been exhibited on the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and in Maleny but had never been seen in the South Burnett before until they were unveiled at this month’s exhibition opening last Friday night.<\/p>\n

This month the Wondai Regional Art Gallery is also exhibiting a major work by South Burnett artist Zane Stuart in the Main Gallery; pieces by the Biggenden Art Group in the Rear Gallery; and works by young students from Murgon State School in Kidz Korner.<\/p>\n

Zane Stuart’s exhibition features two complete, full-size paintings of the region – one of a wood transport truck that won this month’s “People’s Choice” award, and another of a barren gully – along with dozens of quick sketches and rough paintings he made in the process of composing both pieces.<\/p>\n

The small works are unfinished, but they catalogue the artist’s journey towards the two finished works and also provide an insight into a process that’s common to many artists.<\/p>\n

The Biggenden Art Group surprised many in the opening night crowd with the quality and depth of their works.<\/p>\n

This small group was formed many years ago and currently has about five active members.<\/p>\n

All of them contributed several pieces each for this month’s exhibition.<\/p>\n

The official opening of the exhibition was conducted by the South Burnett Regional Council’s Arts portfolio chair Cr Ros Heit and assistant curator Robyn Dower.<\/p>\n
