Officials from the Confederation Of Motor Sport (CAMS) have yet to give the Wondai Street Sprints track a tick of approval, but organisers are confident the 1.6km street track will pass with flying colours.<\/p>\n

southburnett.com.au<\/strong> enjoyed a preview of the proposed course, which encircles the Wondai Industrial Estate, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The start line will be in Burrows Street. The course then proceeds into Kemp Street, right into Old Dip Road and then right into North Street where the Finish line will be located.<\/p>\n

The pits and camping ground for competitors will be on vacant land off Burrows Street, opposite the end of North Street.<\/p>\n

Malcolm Rea, from Wondai business Motorsport Developments, is one of the movers and shakers behind the Wondai Street Sprints.<\/p>\n

He has tons of motor racing experience under his belt, including the Bathurst 1000, the Macau Grand Prix and the Australian Super Touring Championship.<\/p>\n

Malcolm believes a couple of temporary chicanes may have to be inserted into the back straight to slow the competitors down slightly but he’s confident the CAMS officials will like the track.<\/p>\n

CAMS will also provide advice on where tyre barriers, hay bales and concrete barriers will have to be positioned.<\/p>\n

The event, which has been pencilled in for next June, is being organised by Motors In Motion Inc.<\/p>\n

Committee members have already spoken to local businesses, police and the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Motors in Motion president Kevin Krosch said everyone who had been contacted so far had been very supportive of the event.<\/p>\n

The committee is now out and about actively seeking sponsors.<\/p>\n
