Kingaroy’s Nimue Art Gallery is playing host to nine of the region’s most talented female artists this month.<\/p>\n

Recently the Gallery held a low-key Saturday morning exhibition opening for the women, who get together once a week in the aptly-named “Monday Morning Art Group” to inspire and critique each others’ work.<\/p>\n

The artists – Pauline Murfin, Dot Rowland, Joy Carter, Annie McBride, Janet Mulcahy, Evelyna De Kerkhof, Anna Aird and Trish Erkens – have mounted a bright, eye-catching show which contains recent examples of all their works.<\/p>\n

The paintings are executed in a variety of media including acrylics, pastels, watercolours and pen, ink and charcoal.<\/p>\n

The common thread that binds the exhibition together is a love of the natural environment and lush colours (although there are also a smattering of more sombre, mood-driven works on display).<\/p>\n

Gallery curator Cherry Carroll, who recently returned from the Philippines where she exhibited 49 of her own paintings at Manila\u2019s Galeria de las Islas (\u201cGallery Of The Islands\u201d), said many members of the group were already well-known in the region’s art circles, but a few were emerging artists who showed great promise.<\/p>\n

“This is a very interesting and varied collection which is priced to sell,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Anyone looking for a beautiful, original artwork to hang on their wall should really come and have a look.”<\/p>\n

The exhibition will remain on display until September 28, when it will be replaced by a new exhibition featuring 90 works by award-winning South Burnett pastellist Karol Oakley.<\/p>\n
