Lehman Brunjes wanted to do a trade – any trade – when he left school.<\/p>\n

So Murgon State High School\u2019s “minister for employment” Sharon Suchronzak organised for him to do a school-based electrical apprenticeship last year.<\/p>\n

Lehman took to it like a lion to meat, and did two days paid work along with three days at school while completing his Year 12.<\/p>\n

“It was pretty good,” he said matter-of-factly about getting paid for a job while still at school.<\/p>\n

“I enjoyed it and had some extra cash.”<\/p>\n

By the time Lehman, 18, graduated he had completed part of his four-year apprenticeship and knew exactly how he wanted to make a living.<\/p>\n

“It was a nice feeling,” he said of the certainty he had for his future.<\/p>\n

Lehman now works for Dennis Electrical in Murgon and said he enjoyed the variation of work.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s something different; a new challenge every day,” he said.<\/p>\n

“School started me in a job and I’ve continued on.<\/p>\n

“I like coming to work.”<\/p>\n

Sporting fans probably already know of Lehman through his prowess on the region’s cricket and football fields.<\/p>\n

Two years ago, Lehman was a top scorer in the South Burnett’s U19 Representative Team and went on to be selected in the South Burnett XI for that year’s Goodchild Shield competition.<\/p>\n

That same year he was also picked as Murgon State High School’s Best and Fairest Footballer and Most Valuable Player.<\/p>\n

Last year he was selected in the South Burnett XI again, and this year he played for the Murgon Mustangs in the U18s side which won the U18s Grand Final against Nanango 56-12 last weekend.<\/p>\n
