August 30, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don’t have a lot of bowls news this week. Reason? There’s quite a bit of visiting going on and quite a few of our region’s players are away.<\/p>\n

Rain interfered on a few days last week, too.<\/p>\n

And to cap things off, we had internet problems around the clubs.<\/p>\n

Still, let’s go with what we have:<\/p>\n

Yarraman news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This week’s major news from Yarraman was Ladies Club President\u2019s Day, which was held on Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A highlight of this meeting was the opportunity that it presented to honor the twenty-five years\u2019 service of former treasurer Helen Russ.<\/p>\n

Helen was presented with a Meritus Service Badge.<\/p>\n

Two seniors players also received their Veteran Badges: Glenda Wolski and Alison Anderson.<\/p>\n

The President\u2019s Day trophy match was played in the morning – one game of 21 ends. And as is customary on these days, the winners were drawn from the cards.<\/p>\n

They were Ros Oiglemuller, Evie Jensen, Brian Dugdell and Jan Andresen.<\/p>\n

The Sportsman\u2019s Prize went to Faye Simpson, Lorri Holmes, Lyn Munday and Gloria Haack.<\/p>\n

The club will be playing Father\u2019s Day today, with a 12:30pm start.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy’s Two Bowl Triples Championship Final last Saturday attracted a lot of interest.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After last week’s washout, the final of the Championship finally got underway.<\/p>\n

The game was played over a marathon 31 ends.<\/p>\n

The team of Wayne Thatcher, Bronwyn Grant and Malcolm Macleod took to the green in threatening weather against Maree Millard, Paul Marychurch and Bob Robinson.<\/p>\n

Team Robinson took an early lead in the first few ends and maintained that lead until end 12, when team MacLeod crept in front by 11 to 10.<\/p>\n

With some strong play, they applied pressure and by end 20 lead by 24 to 13.<\/p>\n

It was an arm wrestle over the last 11 ends before team MacLeod ran out convincing winners by 30 to 23.<\/p>\n

Then on Sunday, members of Kingaroy bowls club got together to play Triples in a game sponsored by club member Dave Clinker.<\/p>\n
