It was possibly the “breast-ever” brunch held at the old Taabinga Station Slab Hut … definitely a cut above the damper and golden syrup the old stockmen probably once enjoyed.<\/p>\n

The Barambah branch of the Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network (QRRRWN) held a “Chicks In Pink Breast Ever Brunch<\/a><\/strong>” on Friday morning in the grounds of the Slab Hut to raise funds for the Mater Foundation in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

The Foundation was hoping to raise $100,000 from similar events across Queensland to provide practical support to women fighting cancer.<\/p>\n

At the Slab Hut, the 25 guests – mostly dressed in pink – enjoyed exquisite treats \u00a0in the almost-spring sunshine\u00a0prepared by host Melissa Barnett.<\/p>\n

Some of the scrumptious treats included quiches, banana bread, yoghurt pots, pear and raspberry loaf amd orang and poppy seed muffins.<\/p>\n

There was also a multi-draw raffle to raise more funds.<\/p>\n

The Slab Hut at Haly Creek dates back to 1845 and was the original building erected on Taabinga Station after the land was selected by the Halys. It is made of ironbark slabs with a split shingle roof.<\/p>\n

After the Taabinga Homestead was built, the building was used by the head stockman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
