The final stage of an awareness ride promoting the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail will start at Yarraman at 10:00am tomorrow.<\/p>\n

The ride, organised by Paul Heymans from Wivenhoe Pocket, is part of a campaign by residents further down the Brisbane Valley for \u201cmissing links\u201d in the trail to be developed<\/p>\n

Paul has been lobbying the Somerset Region Council to apply for funding to do just that.<\/p>\n

He has launched a petition on\u00a0Change.org<\/a><\/strong>, a\u00a0Facebook page<\/a><\/strong>, and has been been cycling open sections of the rail trail to help promote the trail as a whole in a bid to build pressure on Somerset Council.<\/p>\n

He had planned to ride the section between Yarraman and Moore on August 16, but it had to be postponed because of bad weather.<\/p>\n

Paul is now calling for supporters of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail to gather in Yarraman at 10:00am tomorrow to display their support for the rail trail and walk, ride or cycle the 44km section to Moore alongside him.<\/p>\n

“It should be a beautiful day to cycle through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Brisbane Valley,” he said.<\/p>\n

“A $10 co-contribution towards cost of the bus hire would be appreciated as I’m paying out of my own pocket.<\/p>\n

“A support vehicle will be following the ride and can carry food and drink for smoko and lunch.<\/p>\n

“Everyone rides at their own risk. Cyclists need to be reasonably fit and skilled at riding on trails.<\/p>\n

“Helpful to let me know if you plan to ride with us so we can ensure sufficient transport.”<\/p>\n
