The Kingaroy Red Ants came storming home in the second half tonight to end Cherbourg’s unbeaten run in the Premier League competition.<\/p>\n

The Hornets had recorded 13 straight victories since the start of the competition \u2013 plus two forfeits and the washout round (Round 13) when no A Grade games were played. <\/p>\n

Tonight’s match, played at Jack O’Chin Oval at Cherbourg, see-sawed during the first half.<\/p>\n

The Red Ants scored three times during the first 20 minutes with Matt Allen converting 2 out of 3.<\/p>\n

The pendulum then swung in Cherbourg’s favour, and they picked up four tries in succession.<\/p>\n

At half-time, the Hornets led 22-16.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy opened the scoring in the second half but Cherbourg hit straight back, scoring in the corner.<\/p>\n

This would be the last points for the Hornets for the night.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy then scored 34 unanswered points to run out victors 50 to 26.<\/p>\n

Red Ants Club President Greg Pomfret said the victory was special for the club as not only were Cherbourg undefeated but the victory was on their home ground.<\/p>\n

“I am so proud of all 17 players who all played their hearts out to have this well-deserved victory for the Kingaroy Red Ants,” he said.<\/p>\n

The best players in attack for Kingaroy were Nathan Champney, Tim Guinea, Troy Fielder, Dallas Allery and Matt Allen. Best defenders were Darren Bowden, Mitch Schilling, Chris Abbott, Lachie Brown and Josh Barkle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
