Representatives from community groups from all over the former Nanango Shire gathered at Ringsfield House on Saturday afternoon … and went home a whole lot happier (and richer).<\/p>\n

This year Heritage Nanango Community Funding Ltd, a joint venture run in conjunction with the Heritage Bank, distributed $370,000 in grants, donations and sponsorship to groups in the town.<\/p>\n

Some of the biggest smiles came from the representatives from the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic parish.<\/p>\n

Parish priest Fr Nigel Sequeira was presented with a cheque for $42,339 to allow sealing and painting of the exterior of the iconic church on the corner of Alfred and Gipps streets.<\/p>\n

Fr Nigel made the announcement to the congregation during a Mass at the Church on August 15.<\/p>\n

The parish has been busy raising funds for a restoration of the building ahead of its centenary in 2017.<\/p>\n

The second highest amount distributed on Saturday went to the South Burnett Western Performance Club Inc who will use their cheque for $35,580.46 to build a\u00a0toilet and shower (with wheelchair access) facility for the use of riders and competitors.<\/p>\n
