Shakespeare will probably be spinning in his grave but the audience is certain to be laughing when the Nanango Theatre Company’s latest production hits the stage next month.<\/p>\n

The company is putting on the comedy “Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth” written by British playwright \u00a0John Christopher-Wood.<\/p>\n

It tells the tale of an elderly couple, Elsie and Norm, who decide to share some “culture” with their neighbours by staging Shakespeare’s “Scottish play” in their lounge room.<\/p>\n

But Norm decides the classic needs a bit of editing to make it snappier …<\/p>\n

Director for the production is Tracy Clark who has been a part of the Nanango Theatre Company for nearly 20 years.<\/p>\n

Elsie and Norm will be played by Lynda Archdall and Peter Ainslie, also NTC stalwarts.<\/p>\n

Also on stage will be Brendan Clark.<\/p>\n

This is the NTC’s second production for 2014 but it won’t be their last.<\/p>\n

Auditions start today (Wednesday) for roles in their end-of-year project, two one-act plays.<\/p>\n

“Elsie and Norm’s Macbeth” will be staged on September 5-6 and 12-13 at the NTC’s theatre in Elk Street, Nanango. \u00a0Doors open at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n

Tickets can be purchased from the Nanango Visitor Information Centre.<\/p>\n
