{"id":78256,"date":"2014-08-16T08:05:43","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T22:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=78256"},"modified":"2020-11-27T14:04:52","modified_gmt":"2020-11-27T04:04:52","slug":"south-burnett-bowls-news-49","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2014\/08\/16\/south-burnett-bowls-news-49\/","title":{"rendered":"South Burnett Bowls News: 16-Aug-14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/bowlsdinkus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-53256\" title=\"SB Bowls dinkus \" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/bowlsdinkus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>by Jim Bond<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.4who.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wild Horse 99.7FM<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>August 16, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I said last week that August would be interesting, and the month got off to a really great start.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend will be good, too, if the weather holds.<\/p>\n<p>But the Weather Bureau are tipping rain for Saturday and some showers on Sunday as I write this, so I guess we&#8217;ll just have to wait and see.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, though, here&#8217;s a rundown of last week&#8217;s activities:<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Yarraman news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>On Saturday, Nanango played Yarraman in their monthly self-selected triples clash in Nanango; and on Sunday, Nanango combined with Yarraman to send a contingent of forty players to Kallangur in Brisbane for an inter-club match in what now looks like being an annual event.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The match &#8211; Fours &#8211; was Yarraman-Combined versus Kallangur, and they had a ball!<\/p>\n<p>First up, everyone enjoyed a great breakfast on the arrival of the coach. This was followed by a game of 21 ends, then a roast lunch before heading home (after checking out the gaming machines, of course).<\/p>\n<p>Four Yarraman teams won their games, and there were some very close matches.<\/p>\n<p>The speed of the Kallangur green tested a few of the visitors. Yarraman&#8217;s greens sometimes run around 14 seconds, but according to some bowlers they estimated Kallangur at 19 plus.<\/p>\n<p>The winning teams were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Neil Johnston, Bob Hall, Henry Bliesner and Alison Anderson won 23-19<\/li>\n<li>Kev Profke, Sue Tucker, Sharon Yeates and Lynn Halliday won 23-18<\/li>\n<li>Brian Havell, Merv Fitch, Ben Pratap and Arthur Smith won 23-13<\/li>\n<li>Glen Yeates, Graham Heaton, Kay Dugdell and Eunice Smith won 27-16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Non winners were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Athol Jensen, Bev Profke, Terri Silcox and Lew Saunders 16-20<\/li>\n<li>Bill Holmes, George Wolski, Di Currell and Woody Hammond 16-21<\/li>\n<li>Daphne Stewart, Trevor George, Glenda Wolski and Joe Aglizzo 3-61<\/li>\n<li>Horst Myer, Doreen Fitch, Evelyn Jensen and Owen Smith 8-23<\/li>\n<li>Brian Dugdell, Rob Douglass, Kerry Knowles and Nathan Wood 23-26<\/li>\n<li>Neil Currell, Lorri Holmes, Gloria Anderson and Christie Wood 13-29<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On Wednesday, in the Ladies Club Championships A Grade Singles Final, Kay Dugdell defeated Jenny Moore 25-11.<\/p>\n<p>And in the Ladies Triples Championship, Helene Johnson, Bev Profke and Di Currell defeated Gloria Anderson, Glenda Wolski and Lola Harper 21-19.<\/p>\n<p>Finally &#8211; in social play &#8211; in a game of 18 ends with conditions 2 for and end and 3 for win:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ivy and Roy Wrembeck and Eunice Smith def. Daphne Stewart, Leo Robinson and Eileen Elliott 30-10<\/li>\n<li>Neil Currell, John Moore and Nev Lawrence def. Lindy Clutterbuck 25-22<\/li>\n<li>Marj Moore, Val Jeppesen and Wendy Turner def. Annette O&#8217;Brien, Maureen Kemp and Diane Reed 30-18<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the Final, Moore, Jeppesen and Turner defeated Maroske, Grant and Smith 25-19.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Kingaroy played Pairs and Triples:<\/p>\n<p>In Pairs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Steve Carland and Dave Barwick def. Bob Bougoure and John Coppard 25-15<\/li>\n<li>Peter Kemp and Phillip Kemp def. June McKee 25-20<\/li>\n<li>Evelyn Jensen def. Sue Tucker 25-18<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Kilcoy news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>In the Mixed Pairs Club Championship Games, there were two very close games:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lester Bechly and Trudi Pratt def. Leigh Irwin and Jenny Edwards 21-20<\/li>\n<li>Jeff Welden and Nelly Herbert def. Margaret and John Worrall 22-20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ladies Pennant Season has also started with Kilcoy playing in Division 2.<\/p>\n<p>They played Solander Lake at home and were defeated. And on Thursday they played Bongaree at Kilcoy &#8211; with a follow up next day at Bongaree. Hopefully we&#8217;ll get the results for next Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, eight ladies went to Lowood for the annual challenge in the Mayor\u2019s Cup against Lowood and Toogoolawah.<\/p>\n<p>Lowood won with 61 points, Kilcoy came second with 54 points, and Toogoolawah ran third on 53 points.<\/p>\n<p>Very close matches, and Mayor Darren Lehman was there to present the trophies.<\/p>\n<p>Next Tuesday will be Jackpot Bowls, and the Jackpot currently stands at $252.<\/p>\n<p>And in the Star of the Green competition, Jeff Welden defeated John Worrall and will play Col Ferguson next week.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday results:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jeff Welden, Adam Kelly and Fay Vicary def.
