Police are preparing a formal report for the Coroner in the wake of Saturday night’s fatal traffic crash on the Bunya Highway near Memerambi.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said a driver who had pulled off the road to use their mobile phone witnessed the crash at 9:20pm.<\/p>\n

A 2012 Toyota Hilux was travelling towards Memerambi but failed to take a left-hand bend in the road.<\/p>\n

The vehicle left the road, hit a culvert and travelled another 20m before coming to rest in a grassed area.<\/p>\n

Police, ambulance and fire brigade attended the scene.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately the 23-year-old driver was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

Police at the Memerambi crash scene were called back into Kingaroy at 1:00am to attend an alcohol-fuelled disturbance at a local hotel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 45-year-old Kingaroy man and his 21-year-old son have been charged with disorderly conduct on licensed premises and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company.<\/p>\n

Police will allege the son had been asked to leave the hotel because of his behaviour but became involved in an altercation with security staff.<\/p>\n

The father then allegedly grabbed a glass stubby and attempted to use it to assault hotel staff.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said the police investigation had examined CCTV footage taken at the scene.<\/p>\n

The two men have been bailed to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on September 11.<\/p>\n

An elderly couple visiting Queensland from NSW were involved in a collision in Kingaroy on Monday morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

About 11:30am, a Landcruiser ute, which was attempting to cross the Bunya Highway from Aerodrome Road, and a NSW-registered Ford Falcon travelling into Kingaroy on the Bunya Highway, collided.<\/p>\n

The impact spun the Falcon around. \u00a0The driver, a 76-year-old NSW man, was taken to Kingaroy Hospital with suspected head and neck injuries. His wife was uninjured.<\/p>\n

The driver of the other vehicle, an 18-year-old Wooroolin man, was also not hurt. He has been issued with a notice to appear in court on a charge of driving without due care and attention.<\/p>\n

He will appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 28.<\/p>\n

A kangaroo may have been the cause of a traffic crash at Ballogie on Monday afternoon which led to the medevac of two patients by emergency helicopters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police believe the 64-year-old driver, from Durong, may have swerved to avoid a kangaroo on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road but lost control and left the road.<\/p>\n

He was flown to Nambour Hospital with a possible fractured foot.<\/p>\n

His passenger, a 67-year-old man also from Durong, was flown to Toowoomba Hospital with concussion.<\/p>\n

Their vehicle, a 1997 Mitsubishi stationwagon, was totally wrecked.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy police tracked down three teenagers in First Avenue after an alleged incident at Ryke Fuel in River Road about 9:30pm on Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police will allege the trio stole food and drink from the service station.<\/p>\n

A 17-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman have been issued with a notice to appear in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on August 28.<\/p>\n

The 16-year-old has been dealt with under provisions of the Youth Justice Act.<\/p>\n

Two drivers were lucky to avoid injury after a collision at the corner of Harris and Walter roads, in Kingaroy, at 11:30am on Tuesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A 19-year-old man has been issued with a traffic infringement notice for failing to give way.<\/p>\n

The man’s Commodore and a Mazda travelling on Walter Road collided.<\/p>\n

The Mazda was being driven by a 21-year-old woman.<\/p>\n

A 14-year-old girl wanted for breaching her bail conditions was arrested by police at a residence in Windsor Circle, Kingaroy, on Tuesday afternoon.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The girl now faces a fresh charge of obstructing police.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police investigations are continuing after two men were allegedly found to be carrying items believed to have been stolen from a vehicle parked in the Youngman Street carpark behind Kingaroy Town Hall.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said police were called to the drive-thru at McDonald’s Restaurant at 2:30am on Wednesday morning after reports of a fight.<\/p>\n

Police searched the men and allegedly found CDs, a phone charger and other electrical items.<\/p>\n
