Gympie Deputy Mayor Tony Perrett<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Gympie Deputy Mayor Tony Perrett has been endorsed as the LNP candidate for the State seat of Gympie.<\/p>\n

The decision was made at an LNP meeting in Gympie on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Current LNP MP David Gibson announced earlier this year that he would not be re-contesting the seat.<\/p>\n

Mr Perrett is a local grazier and former Kilkivan Shire councillor.<\/p>\n

He is also a former State President of the Queensland Young Nationals and currently represents Division 6 in the Gympie Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Changes to legislation mean Cr Perrett does not have to resign from Gympie Council just because he has nominated as a candidate in the State poll; he would cease to be a councillor only if successfully elected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
