{"id":77569,"date":"2014-08-09T08:04:51","date_gmt":"2014-08-08T22:04:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=77569"},"modified":"2014-08-15T21:29:18","modified_gmt":"2014-08-15T11:29:18","slug":"south-burnett-bowls-news-48","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2014\/08\/09\/south-burnett-bowls-news-48\/","title":{"rendered":"South Burnett Bowls News: 09-Aug-14"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<dl id=\"attachment_53256\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/bowlsdinkus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-53256\" title=\"SB Bowls dinkus \" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/bowlsdinkus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\"><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>by Jim Bond<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.4who.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wild Horse 99.7FM<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>August 9, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Most clubs are now well under way with their club championships, and looking forward to the Spring carnivals.<\/p>\n<p>But this weekend will be a big one to get August off to  a good start.<\/p>\n<p>Today, for instance, Yarraman will play Nanango in their monthly triples clash &#8211; this time in Nanango.<\/p>\n<p>And tomorrow both clubs will join up and get on the bus at 6:30am to have a forty two a side match against Kallangur in Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, here&#8217;s what else has been &#8211; or will be &#8211; happening in lawn bowls around our region:<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Yarraman news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>There was a full green in Yarraman last Sunday for the Lions Club&#8217;s &#8220;Birthday Bash&#8221;. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was a full day program, starting off with a barbecue breakfast and followed by two games: 21 ends to start with, and then one of 16 ends. <\/p>\n<p>Scoring made it interesting &#8211; two for an end and six for a win &#8211; which soon sorted out the stayers from the players.<\/p>\n<p>The home team took out the honours with 60 points, and Nanango&#8217;s No 1 team were runners up with 53.<\/p>\n<p>The winners were Jenny Moore, Graham Heaton and Col Mercer with skip Daphne Stewart. <\/p>\n<p>Nanango\u2019s No 1 team was Evelyn Jensen, Trevor George and Brian Havell, with club President Athol Jensen as skip. <\/p>\n<p>The Sportsman\u2019s Award was collected by Woodford Number Two: Liz Frawley, Eunice Smith and G. Derriman with skip Merv Dunn.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Yarraman are also gradually catching up with their championship calendar. <\/p>\n<p>One match of interest occurred last weekend when President Brian Dugdell teamed with George Wolski to score a big win against David Douglass and Kerry Knowles <\/p>\n<p>Dugdell scored some big numbers early on and led 19-3 at 11 ends. <\/p>\n<p>But a couple of fours and a six on the next side of the card meant Dugdell romped in 39-16.  <\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Ladies &#8220;A&#8221; Final will be played next Wednesday between Kay Dugdell and Jenny Moore.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Finally, in Wednesday&#8217;s Social:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Alison Anderson and Eunice Smith def. Next week is a bye.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Ladies played their first pennant game on Tuesday and went down to Solander Lake. They played a return match yesterday, and I hope to have the results for you next week.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, Jeff Welden won Star of the Green and plays John Worrall next week. <\/p>\n<p>And on Monday, the Ladies will play at Lowood in the Mayor&#8217;s Cup <\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Gayndah news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s good to hear from Gayndah this week: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The club held a Men\u2019s Pairs two day carnival last weekend, with sixteen teams coming from Chinchilla. Kilcoy, Maryborough, Miriamvale and Binjour to take on the local teams.<\/p>\n<p>The carnival consisted of fifteen ends or bell at two hours ten minutes, with scoring ten for a win, one for an end, four for a draw and half a point for unfinished ends.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winners: Binjour &#8211; G.
