Some of the best and brightest students from around Queensland were invited to Parliament House in Brisbane on Tuesday to enjoy a “Future Leaders Lunch” courtesy of the State Government.<\/p>\n

Senior school leaders from St Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy, Nanango State High School and Kingaroy State High School joined local MP, Deb Frecklington, at the lunch.<\/p>\n

The students had an opportunity to listen to a number of inspirational speakers.<\/p>\n

The Speaker of the House, Fiona Simpson, talked about her life experiences that led her into politics and where she had developed her skills in leadership.<\/p>\n

Premier Campbell Newman stressed that authentic leadership is about service and the importance of contributing to the community.<\/p>\n

And the founder of the \u201cRed Frogs\u201d schoolies group, Andy Gourley, spoke about how he started an organisation that now, among other things, assists the 75,000 students who attend Schoolies Week each year.<\/p>\n

The \u201cRed Frogs\u201d provide drug and alcohol education, help schoolies and assist those with mental health issues.<\/p>\n

The St Mary\u2019s Catholic College students then visited the MacArthur Museum in the MacArthur Central building in Edward Street, Brisbane.<\/p>\n

General Douglas MacArthur had his office in the building during World War II, directing wartime operations in the Pacific theatre.<\/p>\n
