A decision to hold a Casino Night \u00a0to raise funds for this year’s Heritage Nanango Mardi Gras has paid off for Nanango’s Mardi Gras Committee.<\/p>\n

Organisers had been concerned that several competing events being held last Saturday night may have affected attendance numbers, but in the end it turned out their worries were unfounded.<\/p>\n

The $80-per-head formal event attracted 60 keen punters to the Nanango Cultural Centre despite freezing (and at times, rainy) weather outside.<\/p>\n

Guests were welcomed by showgirls from the La Creme Dance Academy as they walked up the red carpet.<\/p>\n

Then they spent the evening trying their luck at Blackjack, Roulette, Texas Hold\u2019Em Poker, Craps and Casino War games, all on casino-standard tables provided by Timm Stay and his crew from Brisvegas.<\/p>\n

The guests “gambled” using their allowances of $1000 in play-money in an effort to break the bank.<\/p>\n

Jeff “Elvis” Hancox entertained the crowd throughout the night, while a string of delighted guests walked away with bagfuls of raffle prizes donated by the evening’s sponsors.<\/p>\n

Bev Mariner was probably happiest of all, \u00a0winning the evening’s major lucky door prize which was a weekend for two at the RACV Noosa Resort at Noosa Heads.<\/p>\n

There were also prize give-aways for the best-dressed lady and gent, along with abundant trays of finger foods and prompt service at the bar.<\/p>\n

The event was sponsored by Hairdo4U, Nanango Limousines, Downunder Enterprises, the Burnett Business Centre, South Burnett Autos and Barry Goodwill.<\/p>\n

Mardi Gras committee secretary Chris Marshman said the evening was a great success – so much so that there have already been requests for a repeat performance.<\/p>\n

She said this was certainly something the Mardi Gras committee would consider for next year.<\/p>\n
