Every Monday a group of keen craftspeople gather at the Town Common Hall in Kingaroy to stitch and knit.<\/p>\n

There’s tapestries under development, cross-stitch, embroidery and just about everything else in between.<\/p>\n

The Cooinda (“happy place”) Craft Group \u00a0members work on their own projects as well as charity projects, including quilts – they made some special quilts for the victims of the Bundaberg floods – and trauma teddies.<\/p>\n

Acting president Betty Hankinson said the group had been meeting for more than 30 years, originally gathering in the old Artie Kerr Centre in Kingaroy Street.<\/p>\n

“Occasionally we will have a class, but usually if someone wants to learn how to do something, there will be someone here who can teach them,” she said.<\/p>\n

The cost is $3 a day, which covers the hire of the hall and tea \/ coffee.<\/p>\n

The women always bring their own lunches and it’s a great social event.<\/p>\n

“It’s not a money-making group but if we do have any we give it to charity. We just donated $100 towards the bladder scan machine at the hospital,” Betty said.<\/p>\n

Currently they have about 20 members, but would welcome new members … just turn up at 9:00am on any Monday “and bring along your project”.<\/p>\n
