Pink was the colour to be wearing at Kingaroy’s TJ O’Neill Oval on Saturday at a fundraising day for one of the Kingaroy Red Ants’ club stalwarts.<\/p>\n

Lynda Geiger, wife of A Grade coach Darren and mother of U16s player Adam, was recently diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n

She is now confined to a bed and wheelchair but showed amazing courage on Saturday to make it – complete with pink hair – to see the Red Ants play.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy players turned out in all-pink while many of the opposition players also sported pink socks.<\/p>\n

Friends of the couple have been raising money to help the family hire a wheelchair access van to help Lynda get out and about.<\/p>\n

Half the gate takings from Saturday – and other money raised on the day – will be donated to the family.<\/p>\n

To make the day out complete for Lynda, the “Pink Ants” won both the U14s \u00a0(30-12) and the U16s (30-0) against the Stags.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Services Cricket Club and Kingaroy Red Ants have joined forces to host a family fun sports charity day on August 23 in support of the Geigers.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It will kick off at 10:00am at TJ O’Neill Oval with cricket and touch footy during the day.<\/p>\n

Entry will be a gold coin donation.<\/p>\n

Teams will be mixed six-a-side with a nomination fee of $60 per side (or $10 per player).<\/p>\n

Nominations close on August 16.<\/p>\n

There will be a jumping castle for the kids (between 10:00am and 2:00pm) and a licensed bar and barbecue.<\/p>\n

Raffles will be held throughout the afternoon with some great prizes to be won.<\/p>\n

All profits will go towards helping the family.<\/p>\n
