July 21, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n A woman who threw a pot of boiling water over another woman, causing burns to 10 per cent of her body, has been sentenced to two years jail after pleading guilty to a charge of assault causing grievous bodily harm.<\/p>\n Krystal Susan Saunders, 25, faced the District Court in Kingaroy on Friday for sentencing.<\/p>\n The court was told the complainant confronted Saunders at a house in Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg, on August 11 last year about an alleged altercation with her sister, before punching her in the mouth.<\/p>\n The two women then exchanged blows, moving from the dining room into the kitchen.<\/p>\n At one point Saunders grabbed a jaffle iron and tried to hit the complainant but someone disarmed her.<\/p>\n Saunders then ended up on the ground and the complainant thought the fight was over.<\/p>\n However Saunders stood up and grabbed a pot of boiling water – which was being used to cook silverside – off the stove and threw the water over the complainant’s chest, shoulders, back and arms.<\/p>\n The injured woman went next door and had a cold shower before being taken to Cherbourg Hospital.
