An emergency helicopter landed on the D’Aguilar Highway south of Nanango this afternoon to transport a young girl seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident.<\/p>\n

An Emergency Services spokesperson said the 12-year-old girl was flown to a Brisbane hospital.<\/p>\n

Several other people were also hurt in a multi-vehicle crash, which occurred shortly after 4:00pm, however the spokesperson confirmed there had been no fatalities.<\/p>\n

The incident blocked the highway for several hours.<\/p>\n

Traffic was diverted via the Nanango-Tarong Road, Hazeldean Road and Berlins Road.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/center>UPDATE July 14: Officer-in-Charge of Nanango Police, Sgt Jason Newton, said today four vehicles were involved in the nose-to-tail crash, with four people injured.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police investigations were continuing but it appeared one vehicle had slowed to turn off the highway when a second vehicle struck it from behind.<\/p>\n

The roadworks in the area are not believed to have contributed to the crash, which occurred just south of Elouera Drive.<\/p>\n

Sgt Newton said the injured girl was flown to Royal Brisbane Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She is believed to have suffered a broken femur and other fractures. The other three injured are not believed to be badly hurt.<\/p>\n

He said there had been a number of recent crashes in the Nanango area which could only be blamed on driver error.<\/p>\n

“People need to be more vigilant, particularly on roads where conditions have changed,” he said.<\/p>\n
