{"id":74071,"date":"2014-07-12T08:05:32","date_gmt":"2014-07-11T22:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=74071"},"modified":"2014-07-20T19:46:30","modified_gmt":"2014-07-20T09:46:30","slug":"south-burnett-bowls-news-44","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2014\/07\/12\/south-burnett-bowls-news-44\/","title":{"rendered":"South Burnett Bowls News: 12-Jul-14"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<dl id=\"attachment_53256\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\" style=\"width: 310px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/bowlsdinkus.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-53256\" title=\"SB Bowls dinkus \" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/bowlsdinkus.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd\"><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>by Jim Bond<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.4who.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wild Horse 99.7FM<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>July 12, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gosh, it&#8217;s been a bit chilly lately, hasn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n<p>I haven\u2019t had a report from any of the green keepers, though, so I hope all our region&#8217;s greens have weathered the latest cold snap. <\/p>\n<p>Anyway, Binjour is heading the bulletin this week.<\/p>\n<p>So let&#8217;s get in amongst it.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Binjour news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>It was Lady President Leann Pace\u2019s Day at Binjour last Thursday, and the morning temperature was minus three degrees.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But that didn&#8217;t stop visitors, who made a big roll-up.<\/p>\n<p>Teams came from Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Wondai, Murgon, Tansey, Gayndah, Mundubbera and Monto. <\/p>\n<p>This produced a full green of 64 players, including 21 locals.<\/p>\n<p>A couple even came from Calliope &#8211; Brian and Faye Ford.<\/p>\n<p>It was a fun day, with teams were drawn out of the hat.<\/p>\n<p>The lucky winning team with the largest winning margin was Skip Daph Stewart, 3rd Kelvin Wiley, 2nd Greg Thompson and Lead Jenny Roach with a score 26-15<\/p>\n<p>Runners up with the smallest winning margin was Skip Brittany Wiley, 3rd Arnie Williams, 2nd Sandra Stott and Lead Kay Dugdell with a score of 18-16.<\/p>\n<p>And the Sportsman prize (for the lowest score) went to Skip Phyl Williams, 3rd Brian Prygoda, 2nd Jocelyn Humphries and Lead Athol Jensen.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Yarraman news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>The Ladies had a big day at Yarraman on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It was Patroness Gloria Anderson&#8217;s Day, and it attracted 40 bowlers, who played 1 game of 21 ends with condityioons of play 1 for an end and 4 for a win.<\/p>\n<p>Players came from Kingaroy, Wondai, Goomeri, Nanango, Peranga, Crows Nest and Toogoolawah, and there were quite a few locals on the greens too.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Winners:  Helene Johnson and Dennis Russell def. Gloria Anderson and Jenny Moore 33-12\n<li>Runners up: Hazel Gsiedle, Nev Lawrence and Ron Pinn def. Sharon Yeates, Leo Robinson and Alison Anderson 19-17\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Nanango news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>In last Friday&#8217;s Scoungers there weren&#8217;t any big scores, but Greg Pogson managed to scoop the prize  with 74 points (what is your secret Greg??)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But last Saturday, in Self Selected Triples with 2 for an end and 5 for a win:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chris McLeod, Kay Dugdell and Brian Dugdell &#8211; 40pts\n<li>Bev Profke, Kevin Profke and Helene Johnson &#8211; 34pts\n<li>Di Currell, Josh Pogson and Neil Currell &#8211; 33pts\n<li>Jenny Moore, Doreen Fitch and Daphne Stewart &#8211; 29pts\n<li>Sam Bowler, Cec Bracken and Ed Haycock &#8211; 29pts\n<li>Keith Carroll, Nev Lawrence and Leo Robinson &#8211; 29pts\n<li>Lew Saunders, Sue Tucker and Brian Havell &#8211; 29pts\n<li>Bob Hammond, Ben Pratap and Allan Ward &#8211; 26pts\n<li>Joe Aglizzio, Evelyn Jensen and John McConnell &#8211; 23pts\n<li>Julie Saunders, Mike Wyvill and Horst Meyer &#8211; 23pts\n<\/ul>\n<p>And on Tuesday in the Men&#8217;s Social, Kerry Little, Trevor George and Brian Havell def. Noel Little, Lew Saunders and Ben Pratap 30-11.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in the Mens Championship Triples, Bob Hammond, Athol Jensen and Jim Fowler def Allan Ward, Greg Pogson and Warren Arthur 20-19.<\/p>\n<p>And in the Ladies Championship B Singles, Julie Saunders def. June McKee 25-19.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, on Wednesday &#8211; in the Ladies Scroungers &#8211; the best effort was Evelyn Jensen&#8217;s 67, followed by Sue Tucker on 58.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Kingaroy news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>On Thursday last week the club played selected triples and pairs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the Pairs, Peter Neilsen and Dave Barwick def. Barry O&#8217;Brien and John Coppard 24-14.<\/p>\n<p>And in the Triples: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ron Pinn, Henry Harwood and Bruce Johnston def. Dave Woods, Kay Muller and Dave Barwick 23-21\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Esk news:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Its time we caught up with Esk&#8217;s news &#8211; they&#8217;ve had a busy couple of weeks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First up, their recent Pub Day brought a lot of regulars to this popular event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First Round winners: Bill Percy\u2019s team from Gatton;\n<li>Second Round winners: Allan Wieland\u2019s team from Lowood\n<li>Runner-Up on the day: Geoff Spann\u2019s team\n<li>Overall winners on the day: Arthur Simpson\u2019s team from North Ipswich.\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is not the first time that Arthur has taken off this trophy.<\/p>\n<p>The next round of the social round robin will be held at Mt Crosby Bowls Club on Sunday 20th July.  <\/p>\n<p>Noela and John Blank\u2019s Sponsors Day brought players from Mermaid Waters, Rathdowney, Gatton, Durack\/Inala and Urangan.<\/p>\n<p>There were two rounds, and in Round two the Round One winners played winners and losers played losers, with the overall winners were determined by a secret margin in Round Two. <\/p>\n<p>The winners of the losers with a mystery margin closest to -6 were Gerrit (Esk) and Veronica (Mermaid Beach); while the winners of the winners were Peter (Durack Inala) and Kevin (Urangan) with 2 wins and a margin closest to 11. <\/p>\n<p>And Esk are now off to Laidley on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<table class=\"sample\" width=\"100%\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"20\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td bgcolor=\"#F1EFDD\"><strong>Like South Burnett bowls news?
