The decision to vote in favour of a $3.7 million funding grant for the construction of the Link Road in the Sunnyvale Development sends a message that “Council is open for business”, Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today.<\/p>\n

“One of the Federal Government’s strategic objectives is to create lower cost, high quality housing in regions across Australia. The approval of this funding will fulfil this objective as well as inject well-needed funds into our economy,” Cr Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

“This funding will ensure our region is ready for future population growth when an upturn in the economy occurs.”<\/p>\n

Manager of Economic Development and Property Phil Harding said the funding would create jobs which would “then result in a boost to the sale of products and services supplied in the South Burnett”.<\/p>\n

“This decision ensures we utilise Federal funding while it is available to promote future growth in our region. It is one of about 40 such projects across Australia,” he said.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Regional Council Planning and Environment General Manager Stan Taylor said Council had “made a significant economic decision”.<\/p>\n

“The funding towards the Link Road makes way for a retirement village, aged care facility and speciality medical facilities to be developed as part of the master plan over the next 15 years,” he said.<\/p>\n
