More than 600 South Burnett motorists are about to get a nasty shock in the mail – if it hasn’t already arrived – in the form of a speeding ticket with a hefty fine attached.<\/p>\n

Some may even face a loss of their licence.<\/p>\n

Between June 9 and this morning, police operating a TruCAM radar gun from an unmarked police vehicle have snapped photos of more than 600 cars caught speeding in 60km\/h zones throughout the region.<\/p>\n

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the radar gun had been used in Kingaroy, Blackbutt, Nanango, Yarraman and Wondai.<\/p>\n

It was only placed in 60km\/h zones, in either places where police have received multiple complaints about speeding or where there has been a history of crashes.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said each site had to be pre-approved.<\/p>\n

The highest speed recorded was 100km\/h in a 60 zone, however there were multiple cases of cars driving more than 30km\/h over the speed limit.<\/p>\n

On June 19, 102 vehicles were caught speeding in the 60km\/h zone just outside Wondai.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, 151 vehicles were snapped speeding in the centre of town.<\/p>\n

One P Plate driver will be rueing the fact he was out and about on Sunday afternoon in Nanango.<\/p>\n

Snr Sgt Frank said the unmarked police car caught him three times as he sped up and down Drayton Street over the limit – which means three penalty infringement notices in the mail and a loss of licence.<\/p>\n
