Nanango’s CWA Hall in Fitzroy Street played host to a Viking-themed medieval day on Saturday.<\/p>\n

There was also a field camp on Sunday for hardy Vikings who wanted to make a full weekend of it, 4km out of town at Kurrajong Street.<\/p>\n

Enthusiasts dressed in armour for jousting and swordplay, or medieval clothing for more leisurely pursuits like book-binding, archery or feasting.<\/p>\n

The weekend’s event was organised by the Household of Merewyke, a medieval re-enactment group which has branches all over Australia, as a warm-up to the Winds Of Change Art Gallery’s Medieval Fayre in August.<\/p>\n

Last year the gallery’s inaugural Medieval Fun Day proved to be one of the region’s unexpected hit events.<\/p>\n

Now the gallery plans to hold its second one on August 23, complete with an evening Medieval Banquet.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the 100-seat banquet are expected to become available shortly – and you can put your name on a waiting list by phoning Sandy on 0423-830-224.<\/p>\n
