The Gumps team were exhausted but happy after their touch footy Open A-Grade grand final win<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

June 16, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kingaroy Touch Association wrapped up its first season this evening with six separate Grand Finals games at Kingaroy’s T.J. O’Neill Oval.<\/p>\n

The matches kicked off at 6:00pm with the Open A-Grade clash between Gumps and Old Kingas Maccas on Field 1 and the Mixed D-Grade final between the IGA Maroons and Childs Play on Field 2.<\/p>\n

These were followed with the Mixed B-Grade final between Untouchables and Touch ‘N’ Go and the Mixed C-Grade final between IGA Navy and Don’t Touch Me at 7:00pm; and then with the Mixed A-Grade final between IGA Blue and Kingaroy Green, and the Open B-Gade final between HBWB and Newbies at 8:00pm.<\/p>\n

But all eyes were on the Open A-Grade final.<\/p>\n

Both teams put in a blistering arm-wrestle performance, battling each other to a nil-all draw by the half-time break.<\/p>\n

In the second half, cracks began to appear in each side’s defence which allowed their opponents to score.<\/p>\n

By the end of the match, Gumps had beaten Old Kingas Maccas 8-4.<\/p>\n

Their victory was all the more remarkable because two of the team’s regular players – Rob Turner and Aiden Dillor – had been unable to make the match because of other commitments.<\/p>\n

The Touch Association will now be taking a winter break before starting their second season after in early July.<\/p>\n
