23rd minute that John Shaw put Barambah ahead from a close range tap in.

Just over 10 minutes later, Gunners youngster Gary Honhold equalised after cutting through the Barambah defence.

Then a minute after that, Joseph Copas put Gunners ahead when he found himself with a free run on goal.

This gave Gunners a 2-1 lead that took them to halftime.

But four minutes into the second half, Barambah were awarded a penalty which was scored by John Shaw to both sides level.

And in the 64th minute, Brendan Kelly broke through the Gunners defence to give Barambah the lead once again.

With ten minutes to go, Scott Prendergast made it 4-2 after having a goal disallowed for offside in the first half.

The match was halted a minute from full time after an injury to Gunners Jack McBlane (see story elsewhere on this page).

Full time was called as the player could not be moved until he got ambulance the 61st minute, Boles scored his second to make it 2-0 to Barambah.

But four minutes later as Barambah pressed forward, Gunners scored on the break through lone striker, Ike McBlane suffered a spectacular one at the Kingaroy Soccer Fields on Saturday that saw him stretchered off to hospital.

Jack had been attempting to block a Barambah player with a slide over the wet grass, but the move went badly wrong.

McBlane was left writhing on the ground in obvious pain, and anxious team officials who rushed to the young player’s aid immediately called for an ambulance.

Paramedics attended promptly and after administering pain-killers, put McBlane on a stretcher and took him to Kingaroy Hospital for further tests.

The 2nd Division match was halted a minute from full-time to allow the young player to be properly cared for, and the succeeding Women’s Division match was delayed by 30 minutes until the ambulance left the grounds.

The accident was a stark reminder to both players and spectators that football isn’t entirely risk-free.

But I’m sure everyone wishes this brave young player a speedy recovery and a rapid return to game.

<a
