The inaugural Inverlaw Walk For MS on Sunday attracted more than double the expected number of participants and raised more than $4000 for Multiple Sclerosis Queensland.<\/p>\n

Organiser Josie Potter, who will be competing in the Brissie To Bay Bike Ride for a fourth time later this month with her Kingaroy Cruisers team, said she was thrilled with the outcome.<\/p>\n

“We had an enormous day – much, much bigger than we anticipated,” Josie said.<\/p>\n

“I originally hoped for between 30 to 60 walkers and runners and we wound up with 124!<\/p>\n

“I’m totally blown away by the community support that we’ve received.”<\/p>\n

The Walk was held at held at “Glenhye” on the Kingaroy-Burrandowan Road on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Participants had the choice of a 7.5km, 13km or 21.2km course, and could walk or run them as they preferred.<\/p>\n

Josie said she didn’t have a final fundraising tally yet, but expects the event will have raised between $4000 to $4500 after expenses.<\/p>\n

She paid special thanks to the South Burnett Regional Council’s Healthy Communities Program, which helped assist with the costs of running the event.<\/p>\n

During the morning, the group also drew the winners of a quilt raffle that has been running in conjunction with the event.<\/p>\n
