St Mary\u2019s Catholic College in Kingaroy celebrated its Feast Day on Friday, May 23, with a Mass, sausage sizzle and talent show.<\/p>\n

The Feast Day began with Mass celebrated by parish priest Fr Nigel Sequeira.<\/p>\n

Fr Nigel spoke of the importance of Mary to Catholics for her great courage and faith whilst facing adversity.<\/p>\n

He also recounted his meeting with Nelson Mandela when he was working as a journalist. He spoke about Mr Mandela\u2019s palpable presence as he entered a room and how he was a symbol of peace and reconciliation.<\/p>\n

Fr Nigel challenged all in the St Mary\u2019s community to strive to be people of faith, peace and courage.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights was when the Year 3 and 4 classes performed an action song for the entire community.<\/p>\n

At lunch time the entire College community gathered to enjoy a sausage sizzle lunch with ice-blocks for dessert.<\/p>\n

The College\u2019s Year 12 students, Principal Michael Nayler and staff helped to prepare the sausage sizzle for the entire community.<\/p>\n

The Feast Day concluded with the St Mary\u2019s Feast Day Talent Show in which students performed a variety of acts including dance, music, stand-up comedy, story-telling and even whipcracking.<\/p>\n

The college\u2019s award winning whipcracking team began the afternoon with a display of their impressive talents in the area outside the Maryknoll Centre. Staff, students and parents then moved inside the centre for the rest of the afternoon\u2019s performances.<\/p>\n

Mr Nayler said he was extremely proud of the high standard of performances from across his community and very grateful to the performing arts staff who had overseen the event.<\/p>\n

He said parents and staff had been astounded by the incredible display of talent which had been showcased across the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
