Kingaroy Hospital Indigenous Liaison Officers Jocelyn Clancy and Barry Fisher led the community\u2019s first walk for Reconciliation Week on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The short walk left Memorial Park and arrived at Kingaroy Hospital about 7:30am.<\/p>\n

Twenty-three people took part, and shared a cuppa and damper afterwards at the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe theme for this year\u2019s Reconciliation Week is \u2018Let\u2019s Walk the Talk\u2019,\u201d Ms Clancy said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo we took a literal approach and staged a walk.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ms Clancy was enthused by the success of the community\u2019s first Reconciliation Week happening, and hopes it will lead to more events in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Reconciliation Week walk followed on from a Close the Gap morning tea which was held at the hospital in April,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Reconciliation Week is held from May 27 to June 3 and celebrates the May 27, 1967 referendum which recognised Indigenous Australians in the Census.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
