A Kingaroy family is in shock and grief after a second pet dog was killed yesterday by the same dogs that killed another pet just last month.<\/p>\n

The first dog, Shandy, was a 15-month-old chihuahua which belonged to a family member from NSW who was house-sitting the property on Boonenne-Ellesmere Road.<\/p>\n

The owner, Barry, told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0today that Shandy had been dragged through a wire ringlock fence separating the two properties by two mixed-breed mastiff dogs.<\/p>\n

He rushed Shandy to a vet in Kingaroy, but it could not be saved.<\/p>\n

The family was just getting over this tragic event when a second pet – this time belonging to Barry’s granddaughter Holly – was dragged through the fence in a similar fashion.<\/p>\n

“Holly was calling Poppy and then I saw her bolt for the fence, and I thought ‘oh no, not again’,” Barry said.<\/p>\n

“She actually saw them pull it through the fence.”<\/p>\n

The small dog, a silky terrier puppy, was pulled into the neighbour’s yard by the two mastiffs and “crunched”, despite Holly, who is 17, trying desperately to put herself between the puppy and the two dogs.<\/p>\n

“Believe me, there was no point going to the vet,” Barry said.<\/p>\n

“There was not much left.\u00a0God help us if any little kids go in there. They’re now hunting in a pack.<\/p>\n

“It was a very quiet and subdued household last night.”<\/p>\n

Barry rang the police and the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

“The police said they could not help but two Council officers came out straight away and interviewed Holly and her mother Rebecca,” he said.<\/p>\n

Barry said he wanted the fence improved and the two dogs to be deemed as “dangerous”.<\/p>\n

A council spokesman told southburnett.com.au<\/strong>\u00a0both parties had been interviewed but no decision had been made as yet. Investigations were continuing.<\/p>\n

Rebecca’s sister Renae said she had three children, aged 1, 7 and 9.<\/p>\n

“I am now too\u00a0scared to visit my sister just in case these dogs somehow hurt my\u00a0little boy if he were to wander off. This should not have happened once let alone twice,” she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
