The Wondai Markets were bigger than usual on Saturday morning because they they were combined with the annual Wondai Hospital Auxiliary Fete<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Wondai’s Coronation Park was packed on Saturday morning for the annual Wondai Hospital Auxiliary Fete.<\/p>\n

The fete is held every May in conjunction with the monthly Wondai Markets.<\/p>\n

Crowds browsed dozens of market stalls scattered throughout the park and the adjoining Wondai Regional Art Gallery, or sat in the shade to enjoy entertainment in the Percy Iszlaub sound shell.<\/p>\n

The fete was officially opened by former South Burnett councillor Cheryl Dalton, who was recently reappointed as one of the South Burnett’s two representatives on the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Board.<\/p>\n

Wondai Hospital Board chairman Winston Burrows praised both Mrs Dalton and fellow DDHHB representative Terry Fleischfresser for the outstanding work they were doing.<\/p>\n

Mr Burrows said the DDHHB had achieved great outcomes for the region since it was formed in July 2012 and had helped Wondai Hospital better fulfil its own role in the community.<\/p>\n

SBRC councillors Ros Heit and Kathy Duff, Wondai Hospital Facility Manager Steve McNamara and DDHHS South Burnett cluster manager Peta Rutherford also spoke at the fete’s official opening.<\/p>\n

The day had a health focus, with free blood pressure checks provided by Wondai Community and Child Health Nurse Kylie Thompson, and lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and home-made chutneys, jams and pickles on hand at different stalls.<\/p>\n

The Wondai Markets also had a good day, with organisers donating half the day’s proceeds to the Hospital Auxiliary Committee, as they do on fete day each year.<\/p>\n
