The stars came out for the 80th annual Blackbutt Show on Saturday with Gold Logie-winning actor John Wood on hand to distribute ribbons and a Monster Truck show munching up cars in the evening.<\/p>\n

John Wood was in the region for the Big Screen Film Festival at Nanango, and took the opportunity to pay a visit to the local show.<\/p>\n

He spent some time at the South Burnett Regional Council stand, signing autographs and handing out caps, as well as taking part in many of the show’s ribbon presentations.<\/p>\n

Fourth generation Blackbutt cattleman Peter Scott officially opened the show after a minute’s silence to remember local residents who had died over the past 12 months.<\/p>\n

The Blackbutt State School Choir then presented a number of songs.<\/p>\n

An innovation at this year’s show was the Ladies Marquee erected near the showgrounds car park.<\/p>\n

The marquee served wine and cheese platters from Taste South Burnett while patrons enjoyed live entertainment on the stage including a fashion parade with dresses from Rendezvous Designs in Kingaroy, line-dancing, bellydancing, Zumba and fitness displays.<\/p>\n

The marquee had a country feel with a woodchip floor and hay bale seats, as well as more traditional tables and chairs.<\/p>\n

Woodchopping, post-ripping and chainsaw competitions drew good crowds in their respective rings throughout the afternoon.<\/p>\n

The entertainment continued into the evening with a Monster Trucks show, fireworks and music by Neil Duddy until late.<\/p>\n
