A recall of a popular model of Remington rifle could affect more than 20,000 firearms in Australia.<\/p>\n

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission announced yesterday that Remington Model 700\u2122 and Model Seven\u2122 Rifles with X-Mark Pro\u00ae (XMP\u00ae) triggers, manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014 were affected.<\/p>\n

The manufacturer has determined that some Model 700 and Model Seven rifles with XMP triggers could, under certain circumstances, unintentionally discharge.<\/p>\n

A Remington investigation has determined that some XMP triggers might have excess bonding agent used in the assembly process.<\/p>\n

The rifles were sold across Australia.<\/p>\n

The ACCC has advised owners to stop using the rifle. Any unintended discharge has the potential to cause injury or death.<\/p>\n

Do not attempt to diagnose or repair recalled rifles.<\/p>\n

Remington proposes to replace the triggers in all affected rifles free of charge.<\/p>\n
