A man charged with common assault and unlicensed driving was refused bail when he appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court this afternoon.<\/p>\n

The court was told police will allege Justin McMahon drove to his ex-partner’s workplace, punched her in the face in front of a witness, and then drove off.<\/p>\n

The alleged incident occurred while he was on bail on other charges, and while he was serving a suspended jail sentence.<\/p>\n

Police opposed bail and submitted their reasons to the court.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Mark Bucknall said, if proven, it was a particularly serious assault.<\/p>\n

He said McMahon had an extensive criminal history and had been incarcerated before for assault.<\/p>\n

McMahon also presented “a real risk to his ex-partner”, Mr Bucknall said.<\/p>\n
