The SBRC will support the sale of 40% of Adermann Park to St Johns Lutheran School<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

St John’s Lutheran School today received the endorsement of the South Burnett Regional Council to expand its school grounds by purchasing approximately 40 per cent of the adjoining Adermann Park.<\/p>\n

At its regular monthly meeting in Kingaroy this morning, Councillors voted to provide a letter to the Department of Natural Resources and Mines to support a request by the school to purchase 94 Ivy Street – one of two blocks that form the park.<\/p>\n

Cr Cheryl Dalton<\/strong> told the meeting that the Council had met with the school to discuss the proposal on Friday, July 13.<\/p>\n

And in light of the school’s willingness to address Council concerns (such as the retention of most trees on the site) and a lack of any local objections to the proposal, Cr Dalton recommended the Council support the school’s request.<\/p>\n

“This is an excellent school and an expansion of its current facilities will be attractive to many potential new residents,” she said.<\/p>\n

“It’s also more practical for the school to take over this small section of the park than to try to purchase other adjoining residential properties when they come onto the market.”<\/p>\n

Cr Damien Tessmann<\/strong> seconded Cr Dalton’s proposal, saying he felt the school’s expansion plans would benefit the area and that the Adermann family had no objections to the proposal, either.<\/p>\n
