You’ve heard about My Kitchen Rules, how about My Centre Rules? Sale Of The Century? Try Sale Of The South Burnett …<\/p>\n

Every year South Burnett Regional Council gathers together all its volunteers – from the Visitor Information Centres, the art galleries and the libraries – for a day of fun, knowledge quizzes and some more serious stuff including talks on customer service and workplace health and safety.<\/p>\n

About 65 people gathered in the Tobruk Room at the Kingaroy RSL Club this week for their annual forum.<\/p>\n

They came from Proston to Blackbutt, Murgon to Kumbia, and listened to guest speakers Aunty Ada Simpson, from The Ration Shed; Mark Greaves, from Visit QLD; Phil Harding, from South Burnett Directions; and SBRC Workplace Health & Safety adviser\u00a0Maureen Moat.<\/p>\n

They also had the opportunity to play “Sale Of The South Burnett” with questions delivered by “quizmaster” Fiona Kemp … How tall are the peanut silos? What does Wondai mean? How far is it from Blackbutt to Linville on the Rail Trail?<\/p>\n

Instructor Roslyn Melmeth also led the group through a Laughter Yoga session. Laughter Yoga \u00a0provides a “well-being workout” for\u00a0physical, mental and emotional health. Sessions are now held regularly at Proston Library.<\/p>\n

Trudi Bartlett, from “Transforming Small Business”, covered all-important customer service skills in a 30-minute presentation.<\/p>\n

The volunteers were also treated to lunch as well as morning and afternoon teas.<\/p>\n

National Volunteer Week will be celebrated throughout Australia next week, May 12-18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
