“It’s just a good, old-fashioned country show … people will come if you produce what they want, they are hungry for entertainment at the right price!”<\/p>\n

This is South Burnett Show Society president Cliff Seiler’s recipe for a good rural show, and if the past weekend at Kingaroy is any example, he certainly has the recipe for success down correctly.<\/p>\n

Cliff told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> the 2014 Kingaroy Show had been “magnificent”.<\/p>\n

Gate takings were a little bit up on last year but the standout had been the community spirit.<\/p>\n

“The community was right behind it, the spirit was just brilliant,” Cliff said.<\/p>\n

“It’s just a good, old-fashioned country show where kids can come along and show their guinea pigs.”<\/p>\n

Highlights included free showbags for the children, made possible by members of the public dropping off old batteries at a collection point during the year.<\/p>\n

There was also a free rock-climbing wall as well as face-painting.<\/p>\n

Also new this year was the Booie Spinning Group’s parades which featured garments fashioned from local alpaca wool.<\/p>\n

Cliff said the Queensland Pork and Bacon Carcase Classic had also been “a bumper”.<\/p>\n

Entries in the cooking competitions and needlecraft had also been well-supported.<\/p>\n

Also popular were the truck displays and the woodchopping.<\/p>\n

Cliff said he had spent most of Monday at the showgrounds talking to tradespeople. Planning has already begun for the 2015 event …<\/p>\n
