Flashing “school zone” lights will be installed at Taabinga State School this week to improve safety for students.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said the flashing lights had been one of her priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe school crossing from Taabinga SS, across the D\u2019Aguilar Highway is such a dangerous spot. Trucks and cars often don\u2019t slow down and this has created a real safety hazard for the community,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow that the flashing lights are being installed, they will go a long way in reminding drivers they are approaching a school zone and need to slow down immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Kingaroy police also identified the Taabinga school zone on the D’Aguilar Highway as an area of concern because of the high volume of traffic in the area.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said the State Government had committed $10 million over four years to install flashing light signs at more than 300 school zones.<\/p>\n
