More than 70 garments made from local alpaca wool will be featured in three special fashion parades at this weekend’s Kingaroy Show.<\/p>\n

The garments have been made by the Booie Spinning Group using locally grown wool from Shady Pines Alpacas and the Cobby farms.<\/p>\n

For the past few years the Booie Spinning Group have been demonstrating at the Nanango and Kingaroy shows.<\/p>\n

But this year – after receiving training from a Sunshine Coat teacher who taught members about dyeing, felting and weaving – spinning group members will be taking the next step in their evolution by displaying finished garments in a Fashion Parade featuring this year’s Kingaroy Showgirl entrants.<\/p>\n

The garments have been created by local artisans Myrie Cobby, Robyn Cobby, Natalie English, Susan Goddard, Judy Gray, Kirsten Jeffery, Julia Jeffery, Joy Lyell and Rhonda Shultz.<\/p>\n

Nearly all of them will be suitable to wear during the winter months.<\/p>\n

“We’re proud that this is ethical clothing from local family farms made using luxury fibres,” spokesperson Susan Goddard said .<\/p>\n

There will be three Fashion Parades – two on Saturday, May 3 at 11:00am and 3:30pm; and one on Sunday, May 4 at 1.30pm – at the main pedestrian entrance between the GB Hall and the Trade Hall.<\/p>\n

At other times, The Booie Spinners will demonstrate the process of spinning alpaca wool and exhibit animals supplied by John Elliot from Misty Gums Alpacas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
