Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington is urging South Burnett secondary students to enter the 2015 Premier\u2019s Anzac Prize for their chance to experience the historic Anzac Day centenary commemoration at Gallipoli next year.<\/p>\n

Mrs Frecklington said it would be great to have local high school students among the 70 young people from across Queensland who attend next year\u2019s 100th anniversary of the Anzac campaign at Gallipoli.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 2015 Premier\u2019s Anzac Prize presents a wonderful once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our students to attend the centenary commemorations and learn a little more about our Anzac history and their ongoing legacy,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudents from Year 8 to Year 11 are eligible to enter the competition and must submit an original two to five minute multimedia presentation on how the Anzac tradition has shaped the nation, why it is still important and how future generations can keep the spirit alive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Entries opened on April 20 and close on September 19.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Five Queensland students embarked on a two week journey last week to experience the 2014 Gallipoli and the Western Front commemorations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Premier\u2019s Anzac Prize provides an unforgettable educational experience which helps ensure important lessons of the past are learned and that we keep the Anzac spirit alive,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

Queenslanders can follow the 2014 journey online and view the reports, photos and footage from past winners on the Education Queensland website<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The first Premier\u2019s Anzac Prize contingent travelled to Turkey, Belgium and France in 2013 as part of the program \u2013 a $1.442 million election commitment.<\/p>\n
