holidays. football returned to the South Burnett at the weekend when Nanango travelled to Murgon to take on the ever-improving Barambah United.

In Second Division, last year’s Premiers had a close 3-2 win over Nanango.

Nanango went ahead early in the eighth minute through Karl Pichlis.

But the Panthers were reduced to 10 players soon afterwards when Lloyd Kemmery was red carded for striking an opponent.

And in the 51st minute, John Shaw put Barambah back on level terms, leaving the match 1-1 at half time.

Ten minutes after the break, John Shaw scored his second for Barambah.

And in the 63rd minute, Barambah was awarded a penalty after the Assistant Referee spotted a handball in the penalty box.

John Shaw made no mistake with the shot, giving him a hat trick and his team a 3-1 lead.

To their credit, Nanango never gave up and in the 72nd minute, Cooper Radford scored from close range giving his side some hope.

Nanango continued to press Barambah for a nervous eight minutes, but the northerners hung on to inflict Nanango’s first defeat of the season.

Best for Barambah were Ryan Sommerfeld, Ryan Nicholson and Richard Boles while Karl Pichlis, Trevor Holt and Cooper Radford had strong games for Nanango

* * through Jacqui Downie.

Ten minutes later Raegan Campbell got Nanango’s second.

Barambah stayed positive in the second half and pulled a goal back through Elle Mollenhauer in 48th minute.

However four minutes before full time, Raegan Campbell struck again for Nanango giving them a 3-1 victory.

Best for Nanango were Raegan Campbell, Cassie Kelly and Jacqui strongest-looking men’s teams they have had for a few years to take on the Premiers.

Both teams started strongly and there were not many opportunities in the opening minutes of the game.

However in the 21st Minute, Barambah’s Chris O’Loughlin busted the Nanango offside trap to score and give his team a 1-0 lead.

It was a short-lived gain, though, and in the 26th minute Kieran Mangan put his side on level terms after a misdirected ball was played to him by the Barambah defence trying to clear.

Five minutes later, Thomas Mangan put Nanango ahead scoring from an attack on the right hand side.

But in the 40th minute Barambah were awarded a penalty, and Sheldon Livingstone made no mistake to make the score 2-2 at halftime.

In the early stages of the second half, both teams had chances with long range efforts from Kieran Askin from Nanango and Jayden Mollenhauer from Barambah.

Kieran Mangan gave Nanango the lead In the 69th minute by cutting through the Barambah defence and finishing perfectly.

And it was Mangan again in the 72nd minute with a well-earned hat-trick.

With six minutes to go, David Ashby then extended Nanango’s lead by scoring off a corner kick.

The final score was 5-2 to Nanango.

Best for Nanango were
