Five people have been taken to Kingaroy Hospital after a head-on smash this evening on Kingaroy-Barkers Creek Road.<\/p>\n

The crash, which an emergency services spokesman described as high-speed, occurred just after 6:00pm near Redmans Road, Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

A 30-year-old Kingaroy woman, the driver of one of the vehicles, suffered a compound fracture of the lower leg.<\/p>\n

A 26-year-old Kingaroy woman received serious chest injuries and was airlifted to Royal Brisbane Hospital in a stable condition by the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter .<\/p>\n

The other driver – a 65-year-old Kingaroy man – was taken to hospital for observation, as was a 22-year-old man from Petrie in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

A 19-year-old pregnant girl, also from Kingaroy, was transported to hospital after complaining of pain.<\/p>\n

A police spokesman said the two cars has been travelling in opposite directions.<\/p>\n

The road was closed while emergency crews attended the scene.<\/p>\n

The police’s Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.<\/p>\n
