April 22, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

Time is running out to register for this weekend’s Reconciliation Fun Run from Murgon to Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

Cost is $20 for adults, $2 for children registered through their schools or $50 for family groups. There’ll be lucky draws and other prizes for participants.<\/p>\n

The Fun Run, which will get underway at 8:00am on Sunday in Murgon, is a major fundraiser for The Ration Shed’s education and reconciliation programs.<\/p>\n

Registrations can be done online<\/a><\/strong> or in person at the Ration Shed in Cherbourg tomorrow (April 23) or from 9:00am to 12:30pm on Thursday (April 24) at the Rotunda in Lamb Street, Murgon.<\/p>\n

Registrations close at midnight on Friday, April 25. There will be no registrations on the day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former State of Origin star Petero Civoniceva will be leading the fun run and will be handing out prizes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The NRL ambassador visited The Ration Shed in his role as NRL Ambassador last year and was impressed with what he saw.<\/p>\n

And you don’t have to be a runner to take part – walkers are more than encouraged to join in, too.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Alana Purcell, who has been in a wheelchair since 2007, is adamant that she’s taking part! So there’s really no excuse, is there?<\/p>\n

Sports and Aboriginal dancing workshops will be held in Cherbourg after the fun run. <\/strong><\/p>\n

There’ll be traditional games with Brian Hegarty, softball with Kelly McKellar-Nathan, rugby league with Michael deVere and basketball with Andre Moore.<\/p>\n

Healthy food will also be available after the run … free for participants in the run or $5 for everyone else.<\/p>\n

Cherbourg Road will be closed to all traffic from 8:00am to 10:00am on Sunday for the safety of participants in the Fun Run.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the run, buses will run from Cherbourg to return participants to the Murgon Showgrounds, with the last bus leaving Cherbourg at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

If you can’t make the fun run, Ration Shed president Aunty Sandra Morgan is urging local residents to consider making a donation to the museum. Donations can be made online<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n
