South Burnett children aged 6 to 11 will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang’s work this Saturday morning, April 11.<\/p>\n

The Wondai Regional Art Gallery will be hosting a special travelling exhibition from Brisbane’s Gallery Of Modern Art (GOMA).<\/p>\n

“Let\u2019s Create an Exhibition with a Boy Named Cai” will allow children to make and display objects in miniature gallery spaces; develop spectacular multimedia gunpowder drawings and explosion events; and watch a short animated film about the art and adventures of Cai Guo-Qiang.<\/p>\n

Chinese born artist Cai, 57, is currently exhibiting at GOMA, and the travelling exhibition has been brought to the region by GOMA, the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation and the Santos GLNG Project.<\/p>\n

Gallery curator Elaine Madill said that she’s “very excited” about the show.<\/p>\n

“We’ve forged a very good relationship with GOMA and this is the third travelling exhibition for children that’s come to the South Burnett in the last few years,” she said.<\/p>\n

“These exhibitions are a rare and wonderful opportunity for South Burnett youngsters to get involved with the work of world-leading artists.<\/p>\n

“They provide our children with the same sorts of opportunities that children in Brisbane get to enjoy.”<\/p>\n

“Let\u2019s Create an Exhibition with a Boy Named Cai” will run at the Wondai Gallery between 9:30am and 1:00pm and is completely free.<\/p>\n
